Crescent Chair

This piece challenges the conventional design of a chair and seeks to push it further by using a unique three legged design. This visually strong ‘Y’ shaped back leg is the most visually striking elment of this design which contrasts the two turned front legs. However, this design still manages to utalise some familiar aspects through out the rest of the design such as the fluid back to armrest design. Which is hand crafted using steam bending to create an elegant yet clean curve for the back, which compliments the rest of the design.

All these aspects feed into the core element of this design, the seat. This thin ‘W’ shaped seat which is made by using CNC milling machines, allowing a thin and refined profile to be achieved. The small details of the black american walnut which are constant throughout this piece further elevate the quality and craftsmanship.
