Crest Chair

Is the first of multiple pieces in the Wave collection. The idea behind this project was to explore how to manipulate wood and push it. By using techniques such as steam bending in combination with this strips of ash I managed to achieve a tight twist for the back. This resulted in strong yet light design which conveys elegance and fluidity.

The detailing in this piece is oak, which helps break up the chair visually, this detailing is incorporated throughout the design from the seat to the dowel through joints in the back spindle. The addition of detailing is constant through out the pieces in this collection, which not only helps break up the primary material but also helps seppterate the designs.
